Lavanderas
It is the Afro Peruvian folklore par excellence. One of the emotional dances where black women show much waist, hip, pelvic movement and the expression of washing their housework.
They use their shallow pan as work tool. It is a very typical dance of the Afro Peruvian folklore.
It is danced in diverse religious festivities and local custom festivities of Chincha, Cañete, Del Carmen Towns practically of the little south of our country. It is musically accompanied with all the percussion instruments as: the Batas (a set of three conical or cylindrical drums. Each drum is laid on a player's lap and the three players sit side by side, playing by hand.). Cajitas (is a wooden box with a hinged top. It is played by opening and closing the lid with one hand, while the other hand hits the instrument with a stick.) Quijada de Burro (the lower jawbone of a donkey or horse turned into an effective percussion instrument. It is held in one hand and hit with the other to keep the beat), Peruvian Cajon, Bell and Strings.
Zamacueca
It is an unquestionable predecessor of the Marinera. Zamacueca had its peak in the XIX century; although, it was limited to the popular classes because was danced daringly in other spheres.
Felipe Pardo y Aliaga stated about it: its teaching was entrusted to the “African skill’’ and pointed out: “There is not Zamacueca well danced with decency’’. Ricardo Palma said “In the ears appeared callus for listenning a lot of Zamacuecas; in this way, its evident popularity is known.
Inga
It is a collective dance of Festejo genre known as the Muñeco (Doll) Dance in which one dancer with a Muñeco on his arms dancing in the center is surrounded by dancers and a choir of singers; then, he gives it to another circle dancer that will dance in the center at the same time.
It is said the Inga is a festive erotic dance that is danced to the rhythm of the Festejo but with a different choreography.
