COAST REGION
Zapateo
It is known as Creole Zapateo (Tap dance). It is a contest among dancers in time to a guitar. The Zapateo footsteps have its regulation as contest.
It is important to notice, in the Hatajo de Negritos as well as in the Pallas dance in Ica department, this musical and dancing form is still in effect and requires training and ability.
Zamba Lando
It is a Lando genre dance whose refrain says: “Zamba – Malato – Lando’’, which was reconstructed for a recording in the sixties.
Son de los Diablos
It is a dance that originates in the Corpus and then becomes in Carnival dance. It represents the devil (with masks, tail, tridents) and dancers go by streets with a leader in charge of this group.
Its choreography bases on tapping and acrobatic movements as well as cries to frighten the pedestrian.
