Qachua Umuto |
This dance originally comes from Umuto Community, Urcos District, Quispicanchis Province, Cusco Department.
It is a completely cheerful dance of Umuto residents who perform it as Carnival farewell. It is characterized by presenting gallantry nuances with agile movements in which men simulate the Andean bird flight trying to impress women who show joy, flirting and beauty in response to the compliment. The colorful and typical costume characterizes single young people who search to make his relationship official during the performance of the dance; men dance with great strength and gracefulness and through the play attain the SWANACUY (courtship) in order to go to the Urcos Main Square later and make the relationship official there. |

Probably, the name of this dance comes from the apocope “SARGE’’ of the word Sergeant and artistically comes from another Andean position that dates from the Pre- Inca Empire. This dance is performed in Chacacupe District, Canchis Province, Cusco Department. In this dance, men use white wool masks and bear white flags underlining considerably the Chuyay and Pukllay ritual and it is accompanied by a very small pick ancient instrument called Pico Kuro. |

It originates in the Quechua Ethnic group, It is an ancient dance in which an annual tribute is paid to the Pacha Mama, characterized by being the most strong and bloody dance, it is performed by military encounters that have relations with the unharmed religiousness through the “Huaywariska’’ or the “Alcansu’’, a payment given to the land prior days. This dance takes place each January 20th on the sides of the Apu “Chiaraque’’. |
